Summer Shoot – July 2013

When I worked at my old job I was asked by one of my coworkers to take their family pictures at a location I had never been to. It was out in the country where I later discovered I had terrible if nonexistent cell service for my phone.

Doing the prep work I looked on Google maps and Google earth and street view to try and get a feel for the location they knew and loved. It was a beautiful small town with a small river dam that had a steady flow of water tumbling over the top of the dam. We were going to take our pictures under the bridge in front of the dam.

Since it was so hot outside and the light was so harsh I requested we take the photographs at 7:20 in the morning so we would have good light and not be sweating to death. While the drive out there was close to a 45 minute drive and we had to leave early it was well worth it! The shoot was a success and we all had a blast.

Art and Maryanne Engaged – March 2014

A few years ago (March 2014) Rachel and I got to take engagement pictures of our friends Art and Maryanne. Art had moved to Birmingham four months before me and we have been friends for 6 years now. We felt privilaged to take these pictures and the couple made it easy. I will let the pictures speak for themselves but these two are awesome!IMG_5813.jpg

Sickles Family – May 2015

At the beginning of the summer our good friends Annie and Brian Sickles approach us asking for some family photographs. This wasn’t the first time they had asked but it was finally the right time for both of our schedules. We didn’t know it at the time but they would shortly get a job in a different city and move away. We are very happy for them and consider ourselves lucky we were able to spend some time together taking these pictures. Enjoy!

Beckstead Family – June 2015

This summer my roommate Kendall, his wife Chelsee, and their daughter Emily got to come visit us. Kendall had come the summer before for a brief visit but our schedules had never allowed us to get together again till June.

We only had a few days to spend together so our last night before they headed out we had a 15 minute window in a huge rain storm to take some family pictures. It had every potential to be a disaster but it ended up being a complete success. Five minutes into the shoot it started to pour rain again. So we continued to shoot and Rachel held an umbrella over me and my camera while everyone else got soaked. The shoot was a blast and one of the most fun and spontaneous ones I have ever done.
